Sub:       Empanelment for cardiologist / electrophysiologist and CVTS surgery team at

Jagjivan Ram Hospital, Mumbai central.

Jagjivan Ram Hospital, Mumbai Central is the Zonal hospital of Western Railway. It is a 330 bedded multi-specialty care hospital with affiliation to NBE and CPS for post graduate teaching.

Jagjivan Ram Hospital has commissioned a Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery Unit consisting of a Cath Laboratory,  CVTS Operation theatre and a 6 bedded ICU with facility to increase to another 6 beds.  The Cath Lab is of Philips Make – FD 20 Combo Lab integrated with Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) with fractional flow reserve, In-built CT scan / 3 – D Angio and EP navigator.  Such equipment is the first of its kind in India. In addition to these, there is Avanta Fluid management system – Injector, Rotablator and EPS with RF ablation system. The Operation Theatre is a seamless OT with Dr Mach Led lights, Belmont OT Table, latest Heart Lung Machine (C – 5 Stockert Shiley) and two IABP (A - CAT), Portable 2 – D echo machine with TEE for intracardiac vavle replacements. Both Cath lab and CVTS OT are supported by latest anaesthesia equipments with defibrillators with ECMO and rapid infusion system. They are also supported by two 6 bedded ICU for post procedure / post – surgery care. These ICU are equipped with Philips Monitor – MP 70, Huntley Electronic Beds with air cushions and bedside digital X-ray system, fluoroscopy for emergency pacing and pericardiocentesis. There is also haemodialysis machines in the ICu for bedside management of renal failure patients.

At present, the hospital is conducting mainly non-surgical cardiology procedures like coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty, pacemaker implantations and Intra Cardiac defibrillators, etc. During these procedures, it is planned to have a CVTS Surgical team on standby for emergency surgery. It is planned to start conducting CVTS surgical procedures once CVTS teams are empanelled.

This unit is presently being managed by a full time in-house cardiologist and in-house paramedical staff. There is sanction to engage 03 senior residents each in Specialty of General Medicine, General Surgery and Anesthesia.  The process for such recruitment has been initiated.

In order to utilize the centre effectively, it has been envisioned to call super-specialists of the field with sufficient experience and qualifications to ensure quality medical care.

The basic qualifications required for these super-specialists / CVTS team members are as below:

1.Cardiologist: DM cardiology / DNB Cardiology or equivalent with at least ten years experience in coronary interventions and rotablator use.

2.Electrophysiologist: DM cardiology / DNB Cardiology or equivalent with traning in electrophysiology and radiofrequency ablation with at least ten years experience in electrophysiology interventions.

3.CVTS team:  Consisting of five members

a.CVTS Surgeon: MCh CVTS / CTVS surgery  / DNB CVTS / CTVS surgery  or equivalent with ten years experience or more after Super specialist qualification.

b.Cardiac Anaesthetist: Diploma / MD / DNB Anaesthesia or equivalent, with training in cardiac anaesthesia and at least five years experience after completing the training in Cardiac anaesthesia.

c.Assistant Surgeon: MS  / DNB General Surgery  or equivalent or MBBS with one year  experience or more in CVTS department

d.Perfusionist: Diploma in perfusion or equivalent with  two years experience or more after completion of Diploma.

e.Cardiac OT Nurse:  Diploma in General Nursing / BSc Nursing or equivalent with  minimum experience of four years  or more Cardiac Operation Theatre after completion of Diploma / BSc

Interested super-specialists of the above mentioned fields are requested to apply  as per format with supporting documents to : -  Medical Director, Jagjivan Ram Hospital,  Behind Maratha Mandir,  Mumbai Central, Mumbai 400008.

The filled forms and enclosures should reach the above office on or before 19.03. 2013 at  15:00 hrs.  The selected super-specialists / CVTS team leader, would be intimated by the above mentioned authority for empanelment.
